Best Food Arcade in Central Adelaide

The Southern Cross Arcade between King William Street and James Place in central Adelaide is a great place to eat or shop cheaply.

The Southern Cross Food Arcade should be named the Southern Circle Food Arcade since the cafes are arranged in a circle around a decorative central dining area.

These are small business cafes run by multicultural small business families.

The cafes in a clockwise direction are :
  • Prices Bakery (a favourite of mine)
  • Euro Rolls
  • Naan Tandoori
  • Dumpling Box
  • Cafe One
  • Bites of Europe (formerly Pars Kebab)
  • Happy Dragon
  • Allegro Pizza and Pasta
  • Singma Noodle Bar
  • Dead Duck Deli (formerly Wunder Bar)
  • Tropical Delite
  • Pars Kebab ( formerly Paddy's Spuds and Mexican)
  • Daily Choice
  • Happy Bean Sushi
  • Squid Inc.
  • Mei Wei Asian Cuisine [Phone:(08) 8211 8831]
  • Seoul Express
Some of the reasons we choose to live in Adelaide are
  1. the friendly conservative background in what was a City of Churches and high moral standards
  2. many fine immigrants from South Asia and the Orient who have excellent small business and food preparation skills, and who operate their businesses in an exemplary manner
  3. the great climate in which each Adelaide day could be like a Spring day in some part of the world
  4. good agricultural produce at bargain basement prices
  5. many very well-behaved foreign students who avoid alcohol
And if You want to shop there is the Cheap As Chips discount store directly under the SC food plaza and several other low price stores, and a well-stocked well-stacked magazine and stationery agency.

However, please avoid the nearby much more affluent/effluent City Cross Arcade, since it has too many Junk Food outlets : Deadly Doughnuts, Beastly Burgers, stinking filthy New York Subway and Ken Tucky Fried Crap
